Sweating…

Is there anyone out there who has managed to create a solution for heavy sweating armpits? Severe underarm sweating is no laughing matter for those of us who have to live with it. The reason I am writing this blog today is to drum up some remedies for underarm sweating from you.

A few years ago, I came up with a possible solution that I had hoped to license someday. My invention is called either the “ArmAir” or “ArmGuard” (I was most likely going to settle for ArmAir; a nice play on words). I put a lot of effort into developing the product that I was hoping would take the world by storm. It was going to change the way people handled severe underarm sweating from this point on.

The ArmAir is a simple holster contraption with a pair of cotton pads where the holster meets the armpits. On each pad, a deodorizing pad is attached using velcro to secure it (they would be purchased at any general or super store as refills). The main holster is made of elastic band and would fit snug against the skin.

This model is made primarily for us guys to wear – I have sat in too many meetings or introduced myself to too many prospects while worrying that everyone can see me pitting profusely. The men’s ArmAir was to be that one additional article of clothing that every man put on in the morning. The snug fit would prevent the men wearing it from noticing it throughout the day, while it would come in select colors so that they would be invisible under most dress shirts. The deodorizing pads are disposable and can be discarded at the end of the day.

I did not forget about the women though. The challenge is the bra. I instead went the route of an attachment to the bra, with nylon clips to keep the ArmAir from floating throughout the day. I tested the contraption initially on my girlfriend (my wife now) and made a few changes to the model. I was well prepared to take my product to Johnson and Johnson for a licensing deal. Even better, I would have an infomercial selling them for a special price of just $19.99 (plus shipping and handling).

I ran into the one thing that kills great ideas – a lack of funding. I failed to secure enough funding to move ahead with my invention. I assumed that someone out there would just love to take on all the risks while I reaped the benefits. Isn’t that how it works? I guess not. I think this is one of the main reasons why entrepreneurs fail in their attempts to create that one great solution.

So, I am not kidding. Someone needs to create a solution for heavy sweating armpits. However, make sure that you have your sources of funding ready so that you don’t end up another failed ArmAir.
